2019-2020 School Year Traffic Flow
Dear Independence Elementary Parents,
In an effort to make our arrival and dismissal process as smooth as possible, and with the safety and security of your
child(ren) in mind, we have altered our procedures for the 2019-2020 school year. Please see the map above for
the new arrival/dismissal procedure layout. The new procedures are listed below.
Arrival
K and 1st Grade Students (with no 2nd through 5th grade siblings)
K and 1st grade students with no older siblings will follow the Blue Line route. We ask that parents enter the parking
lot from Parker Rd. or 544 through the Killian Middle School entrance. You will turn left before you reach the Career
Center East Parking lot and turn right to go around the back of the campus where drop off will be set up. Please note
that the Blue Line will close at 7:40 a.m. If you arrive after 7:40 a.m., please drive around to the front of campus to
drop off your child(ren). If you arrive after the 7:45 a.m. bell, you must escort your child into the building.
2nd through 5th Grade Students (with K and 1st siblings)
2nd grade through 5th grade students with younger siblings will follow the Red Line route. We ask that parents enter
the parking lot through the Windhaven Parkway entrance. You will turn right in front of the campus before turning left
in the second entrance to the visitor parking lot next to Independence Gardens. We ask that your child(ren) exit from
the passenger side. Please note that the Red Line will close at 7:40 a.m. If you arrive after 7:40 a.m., please drive
around to the front of campus to drop off your child(ren) into the front line. If you arrive after 7:45 a.m. bell you must
escort your child into the building.
Dismissal
K and 1st Grade Students (with no 2nd through 5th grade siblings)
Parents will follow the same Blue Line route as they do for arrival to the back of campus to pick up their child(ren).
2nd through 5th Grade Students (with K and 1st siblings)
Parents will follow the same Red Line route as they do for arrival to pick up their child(ren).
Students will only enter cars on the passenger side.
Pre-K Arrival and Dismissal
AM Pre-K
For arrival, AM Pre-K parents will follow the Blue Line route for arrival. Students arriving after 7:45a.m. MUST be
escorted into the building by the parent or caregiver. For dismissal, parents will park in visitor parking lot and walk to
the Pre-K door labeled exit 9 at the back of school to pick up your child(ren). You must have your child’s car number
to pick up your child(ren).
PM PreK
For arrival, PM Pre-K parents will follow the Blue Line route and drop off your child(ren) at the Pre-K door near the
back of the school labeled exit 9. For dismissal, PM parents will pick up their students by following the blue line.
Older siblings should report to the gym and join their PK sibling as they wait for your arrival. You MUST have your
child’s car number to pick up your child(ren).
Estimados Padres de Independence,
Con el esfuerzo de hacer nuestro proceso de llegada y salida lo más eficiente posible y con la seguridad
de sus niños en mente, hemos modificado nuestros procedimientos para el año escolar 2019-2020. Por
favor vea el mapa adjunto para el procedimiento de llegada y salida. Los detalles del proceso están a
continuación.
Llegada
Estudiantes de Kínder y 1er grado (sin hermanos en 2do a 5to grado)
Los estudiantes en Kínder y 1er grado que no tienen hermanos mayores seguirán la ruta de la Fila Azul.
Los padres deben entrar al estacionamiento por la calle Parker ó FM544 a través de la entrada de Killian
Middle School. Girar a la izquierda, pasar el estacionamiento de Career Center East y doblar a la
derecha dirigiéndose al rededor del edificio donde se les indicará el lugar para bajarse. Por favor tengan
en cuenta que la Fila Azul cerrará a las 7:40 a.m. Si llegan después de las 7:40 a.m. deberán ir al frente
de la escuela para dejar a sus hijos. Si llegan después del timbre de las 7:45 a.m. un adulto deberá de
acompañar al niño para entrar al edificio.
Estudiantes de 2do a 5to grado (con hermanos en Kínder y 1er grado)
Los estudiantes de 2do a 5to grado con hermanos menores seguirán la ruta de la Fila Roja. Los padres
deben entrar al estacionamiento por Windhaven Parkway. Gire a la derecha en la calle principal y a la
izquierda en la segunda entrada del estacionamiento para visitantes frente al Huerto de Independence.
Les pedimos que los niños se bajen del auto por el lado del pasajero. Tenga en cuenta que la Fila Roja
cierra a las 7:40 a.m. Si ustedes llegan después de las 7:40 a.m. manejen al frente del edificio. Si llegan
después del timbre de las 7:45 a.m. un adulto debe de acompañar a los niños para entrar al edificio.
Salida
Estudiantes de Kínder y 1er grado (sin hermanos en 2do a 5to grado)
Los padres seguirán la misma ruta de la Fila Azul tal como lo hacen para la llegada, dirigiéndose a la
parte de atrás del edificio para recoger a los niños.
Estudiantes de 2do a 5to grado (con hermanos en Kínder y 1er grado)
Los padres seguirán la misma ruta de la Fila Roja para recoger a sus hijos tal como lo hacen en la
llegada. Los estudiantes solo entrarán a los carros por el lado del pasajero.
