Membership

By joining the PTA, you help us meet our school's needs that are outside the scope of their budget. You also get great discounts, locally and nationally. When you go a step further and volunteer to help with events—or join our board— you set a fine example for our students to follow, and greatly encourage our teachers and staff.



Membership is $10 per adult.

 

If I join, do I have to?

  • Go to meetings?
    No. You are welcome to attend our general meetings though.

  • Volunteer or spend a lot of time at school?

    Nope! Joining the PTA is not the same as volunteering. If you choose to volunteer we would LOVE the help—but volunteering is not required.

Why Join PTA?  

The #1 reason to join the PTA is to support Independence Elementary School and your child! The IES PTA is dedicated to supporting Independence’s efforts to provide a quality educational environment for students. By joining, you are supporting those efforts. Studies show that kids perform better in school when parents are involved. Grades are higher. Test scores improve. Attendance increases. Involved parents are informed parents.

 

What Does the PTA Do?

The Independence Elementary School PTA provides programs and services to parents, students, and teachers. We coordinate volunteers for needs throughout the school, organize parent education nights, and host periodic luncheons to appreciate the efforts of staff. We provide scholarships for school field trips and support teachers’ continuing education efforts by offering scholarship support to help defray educational costs. We publish an electronic newsletter with relevant school and community information. Additionally, we coordinate the National PTA Reflections program to support the arts. DUDES program...
